Just Another Random Conversation Between My Kids
Most conversations between my children are odd to put it mildly. This is the kind of ordinary conversation you would be subjected to if you were a fly on my walls listening to a five year old Noodle engaging with a two year old Squish.
Noodle: Let's play I Spy.
Squish: Okay. I spy with my witter eye something beginning with a .... SNAKE.
Noodle: You have to say the letter that is starts with.
Squish: Okay... the letter... SNAKE.
Is it a snake?
Squish: No.
Noodle: Is it a horse?
Squish: Yes!
(Sometimes they are on the same bizarre wavelength.)
Squish: I spy something beginning with a .... CAR.
Noodle: That's not how the game works.
(Big argument follows).
Noodle: Let's play doctor instead.
(Gets out doctor kit.)
Noodle: You need to be the patient and I will give the diagnosis.
Squish: No, I want to be the dia-noser. (Grabs toy reflex hammer thingie.)
Noodle: No!
(She traps him under a blanket and forces him into a lying down position.)
Noodle: Now patient, what seems to be the problem.
Squish: I a ghost. Whooooohoooohooo.
Noodle: Ghost, which part of you is hurting?
Squish: My elbow (while pointing to his knee).
Noodle: Aaaahaaaa! I see the problem. You have a bad case of Hurt-a-knee-osis. You need to stay in this hospital bed for a lot of, lot of days until you are used to it.
Squish: I want my mommy.
Noodle: No, you need to stay here for very, very long my patient.
Squish: Okay (sweet voice).
Then he runs away at full speed. Wise move.

Moments with Little Squish
The terrible two's have hit hard and they are trying. However, all the cute
things that my son says at age twenty-four months more than make up for these inconveniences.
Here are a few
gems:
Mommy! Help. My bum bum is not working!
Please can we go for a ride on the tuckshop? (tuk tuk)
I want to drive my Mambogini (he has a toy Lamborghini).
(Pretends to talk on phone).
Hellooooo. I are here. Where are you? What is your name?
Please buy me nice shoes like Mickey Mouse, not stinky shoes like Goofy.
Please can I have a sweet?
(I say no.)
Awww, pweeaase mommy. Just one tiny baby sweet?
My least favourite:
(Why do kids pick up only the annoying songs on the radio?)
Watch me whip, watch me nae nae.
The there is another super annoying song on the radio 'I've got bills, I've got to pay'. But he only sings this bit: My shoes, my shoooooooooooooooooeeeeeeees.
Second place for my favourite:
Big sister often does impromptu 'shows' for us so he mimics this. For his grand entrance, he pops out from somewhere and says...
Welcome... To ... Me!!!
My ultimate favourite:
Mommy! Missed you soooo, so much!
(He says this every time we were apart, even if we were apart for just a few seconds).

Squish Says
At 22 months, my big boy has quite a vocabulary and also loves singing (besides nursery rhymes he knows the words to many of the popular songs on the radio).
Here are some of the funny things he says.
"Tickle, tickle little star, how a water what you are".
"Wheels on the bus go aaateeedown. All day yon."
"Baa baa. Bat sheet. Havvveeeee wooooooooo. Yes sir, yes sir, teabags food."
(Points to his belly button). "Booby!!!" (Side note: I wish he would call them something more discreet, but I have failed hopelessly in that area).
Me: " Not booby, belly button".
Him: "Bewwy... Button ... Booby".
Goes to toilet, sits there (does nothing) and then screams "mooooooommmmmy, I'm fiyeeeeeeeshed".
"Birthday party... Eat cake... Blow fire on cake!"
"Mommy, lets go to shop. Buy sweeties and yoghurt. Now, mommy, now!"
I ask the kids what they want for supper. His response:
"Cook yoghurt and matoes (tomatoes)".
"Mommy give me medicine".
Me: "You are not sick!".
Him: "Nado syrup?" (Panado syrup).
Me : "No, only when you are sick".
Him: "Telfast? Pospad (Prospan)?"
I think we may just have a pharmacist in the making.
"Come. Must watch Youtube". Oh dear (daddy is to blame for that one).
"Do you like school?"
"Yes!"
" Did you have fun today?"
"Yes!"
"Do you want to go back to school tomorow?"
"Nooooooo!!! Stay with mommy. Home."
My absolute favourite- if he has not seen us for five minutes: " Missed you sooooooo much! Big huuuuug!"

Noodle says...
I haven't done one of these posts in a while. My little Noodle, now closer to age five, is as candid as ever. The snippets below are just from yesterday and today!
Noodle: (Pointing at mansion in an upmarket part of town).
Let's buy a house here. Then I can roll down the hill to school in the morning instead of sitting in traffic.
Dad: We don't have enough money to buy a house here.
Noodle: It's easy. We just sell our house for loooooots and lots of money, enough for this house and then we go to that house with the money and say 'Hello, I would like to buy your house today'.
(Sounds great. If only our very ordinary house was not worth just a tenth of those ones.)
Noodle: Don't call me 'my baby'. I am not a baby. I am four years old.
Me: But you will always be my baby.
Noodle: When I am ten years old I am going to move to a new house and I won't give you my address, so then you won't be able to call me 'my baby'.
Me: Wow, that is a beautiful drawing. You could be an artist one day!
Noodle: What is an artist?
Me: An artist is someone who draws and paints really well.
Noodle: Oh. Is that all? I am already an artist then.
(Driving past a vendor selling flowers)
Noodle: Mommy, I am so sad that I have no money today. If I did, I would buy you all those flowers, because they are beautiful just like you.
Oh and I can't forget my little Squish now that he is talking a lot more. He has full sentences now, a post for another day. I just have to share my favourite word of his right now... WATER-MINION (watermelon).
What interesting things have your little ones had to say lately? Please share!
